Imanta is a large neighbourhood in western Pārdaugava where apartment block estates border on detached-house areas — two different working scenarios.
Imanta is dominated by large apartment block estates, but the neighbourhood also has quarters of detached houses. In water meter work these are two different tasks: in an apartment the assembly is standard, at a private house it is individual and often somewhere else entirely.
In practice that means the property type is the most important thing in your request. For an apartment we can plan standard work; for a private house we almost always recommend starting with a survey.
Apartment block estates. In series-built blocks the meters sit at the riser pipe, the assemblies repeat, and the work is predictable.
Detached-house areas. At private houses the assembly may be in a utility room, a basement or outside the building. The number of metering points is not always one.
The scale of the neighbourhood. Imanta is large, and we plan call-outs by the specific address rather than by the name of the neighbourhood — the distances within it are considerable.
Newer developments. At some of the newer properties the assembly is tidy and accessible; there the question is more often about an additional metering point than about a replacement.
In Imanta we work both in the apartment block estates and in the detached-house areas — we select and deliver the meter ourselves.
Apartment owners in the estates. The majority of requests in Imanta.
Detached house owners. Individual situations where a survey is useful.
Property managers. Building-wide projects in the large series-built blocks.
In the form you tell us what the property is and how many meters it has. If you do not know, choose the consultation option.
We get in touch and confirm the street. Imanta is large, so that helps us plan the route.
We replace the meters and check that the connections are watertight; at a private house we also look over the rest of the assembly.
We seal the meters and record the readings; at a private house we prepare a certificate for each point.
Imanta is a large neighbourhood, so giving a specific street or residential district in your request helps us plan the call-out. If several apartments in one building or stairwell need a replacement, combining them into one visit is more cost-effective than separate call-outs.
In Imanta, as in any apartment, the most useful thing is clear access to the meters. If they are in a cupboard under the sink, it is worth taking things out beforehand.
The second thing is the water shut-off valve. In many buildings it is right next to the meters, but in older housing it may be elsewhere. If you know where it is, the work starts sooner.
At a private house it also helps to know where the incoming supply is and whether all the metering points can be reached freely.
The most common question is whether we come out to a particular part of Imanta. We cover the whole neighbourhood — the question is more about when, because the distances within it are real.
Detached house owners often ask how many metering points they should have. There is no universal answer: it depends on how the house was built and whether there are outbuildings or a watering system.
The third question is about work in several apartments. If several neighbours in a building have the same need, combining it is more cost-effective — and in Imanta, where the distances are large, that is particularly noticeable.
Imanta is one of the largest neighbourhoods in Riga, and distance within it is a real factor. Two properties sharing the same neighbourhood name can be several kilometres apart.
So the street or residential district given in your request helps us more than the word “Imanta”. It lets us plan a route that combines nearby jobs into a single call-out, and that is reflected in both the timing and the price.
If you do not yet know the exact address, or several properties are involved, tell us roughly where they are — that is enough for us to work out how to plan.
In the apartment part of Imanta the metering is standardised: two meters, an assembly at the riser pipe, a predictable timescale. In the detached-house areas none of that can be taken for granted.
At a private house the assembly may be in a utility room, a basement or outside the building. The number of metering points also varies — besides the incoming supply there may be separate points for the garden or an outbuilding that the owner does not always know about.
That is exactly why we almost always recommend starting with a survey at private houses. A quote given without seeing the property tends not to match reality in these cases, and we would rather tell you the true scope beforehand.
We work the same way in the neighbouring areas — several properties can be combined into one call-out.
