Ādaži is growing fast — new detached houses, terraced houses and residential developments. We work both with the new building stock and with older properties.
Ādaži is one of the fastest-growing areas in the northern Riga region. For water meter work that means a relatively large share of the properties are new: the assembly is tidy, accessible and designed to current practice.
At the same time the municipality is large and takes in older buildings and rural areas too. An address in Ādaži municipality can therefore mean very different working conditions.
New residential building. In the newest houses the metering point is usually in a plant room, tidy and easy to reach. In properties like these it is more often a matter of setting up an additional metering point or a planned replacement than of an emergency.
Wooded and lower-lying areas. In parts of the municipality the groundwater level is high and the ground lies low. For wells sited outside the house that means more damp and a need to check the condition of the well, not just the meter.
The proximity of the Gauja and the lakes. Being close to water and set among woodland means some properties are scattered and access to them depends on the local roads, particularly outside the town centre.
Apartment developments. The town centre also has apartment buildings, where the situation is closer to the Riga scenario: meters by the riser and a documentation procedure set by the property manager.
Owners of new houses. Properties with a tidy assembly; the question is usually about an additional metering point or a planned replacement.
Private house owners with an outdoor well. Situations where the meter is outside the house and damp is a constant factor.
Residents of apartment developments. In the town centre, where the assemblies are closer to a standard solution.
Owners of rural properties. Scattered properties, where the visit has to be planned around the specific address.

In Ādaži municipality a large share of properties are relatively new, and that makes the work simpler. The more difficult scenario is a well outside the house on low-lying ground: there the damp is constant, and the connections age faster than they would indoors. If the well has not been opened for a long time or has water in it, it is worth checking before we arrive, because that can change the scope of the job.
In the new houses of Ādaži replacing a meter is usually straightforward, but one question keeps coming up: whether it is time to do it at all. In a new house the meter may be in perfectly good working order, in which case a replacement is not needed. The most practical indicator is whether the readings make sense and whether there is any damp around the connections.
With outdoor wells the situation is different. In the lower-lying and damper parts of the municipality the well may be partly flooded or frozen in winter, and that changes the whole plan for the work. If the well has not been opened for a long time or has water in it, it is worth taking a look beforehand — it can change the scope of the job.
Towards the edge of the municipality, where the development is scattered, we plan the visit around the specific address. If you or your neighbours have several properties in one place, combining them into a single visit is considerably better value.
